SFFMA is the oldest and the largest fire and EMS service association in the state. Membership includes about 1,000 fire, EMS and industrial departments, and about 16,800 individual members. The cornerstone of the organization is training and education for firefighters across Texas.

Our annual training conference and convention provides needed continuing education and training for fire and EMS volunteers across Texas. The classes and hands-on sessions are an incredible value for attendees.

Did you know: the SFFMA founded - and now supports and sponsors - the world’s largest fire training school, at Texas A&M University, providing instructors and professional service on the TEEX Fire School’s Advisory Board.

In addition, the association is extremely active in legislative efforts that affect the emergency service of Texas. SFFMA is able to amplify the voices of firefighters across Texas. Membership includes legislative advocacy to ensure the needs and issues of our emergency personnel are effectively communicated to our state legislators.

We also offer insurance through VFIS.

Another important component of SFFMA is our certification program for firefighters, which encourages training, education and certification for all emergency responders.
