SFFMA-TCFP Reciprocity

As of July 21, 2025, the State Firefighters' and Fire Marshals' Association of Texas (SFFMA) has a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) regarding certification reciprocity.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR IFSAC SEAL CONSIDERATION

  • Personnel wishing to obtain IFSAC seals must must follow TCFP’s challenge process which includes completion of both TCFP written and skill evaluations.

  • TCFP only awards IFSAC seals upon successful completion of this challenge process.

NOTICE REGARDING PROGRAM HOPPING

Individuals who start the TCFP certification process cannot then utilize the SFFMA reciprocity as a work-around. These individuals must comply with rules set forth and instructions communicated to them by TCFP for completion including but not limited to full retraining on the topic(s).
