Reflecting on Our 150th Annual Conference
The 150th Annual Conference marked an important milestone in the history of SFFMA, bringing together firefighters, fire marshals, industry partners, and supporters from across Texas.
While we experienced a few operational challenges and unexpected hiccups throughout the week, there were many successes that made the conference meaningful and worthwhile for our members. Every conference provides opportunities to learn and improve, and we appreciate the patience, support, and feedback from those who attended.
One of the greatest successes of this year's conference was the outstanding educational program. Our instructors and speakers delivered valuable training and professional development opportunities that will positively impact fire service personnel throughout Texas.
The networking opportunities were equally impressive. Members had the chance to reconnect with long-term colleagues, build new relationships, and exchange ideas that strengthen departments and communities across our state.
Our Memorial Service remained one of the most meaningful events of the week as we gathered to honor and remember the firefighters and fire service professionals who have made the ultimate sacrifice. It was a moving reminder of our shared commitment to service and the bonds that unite the fire service family.
The Vendor Show was another highlight of the conference. We are grateful to the many exhibitors who continue to support SFFMA and provide our members with access to the latest products, services, technology, and innovations available to the fire service.
Your commitment to the association and the fire service is what makes SFFMA strong.
SFFMA Legislative Day at TEEX Municipal School
We are excited to host our annual SFFMA Legislative Day during TEEX Municipal School in College Station.
This event provides an excellent opportunity for legislators, agency representatives, and fire service leaders to experience firsthand the training and education being provided to today's firefighters.
Highlights of the day will include:
Opportunities to visit with instructors, students, and fire service constituents
Live fire demonstrations showcasing firefighter training and skills
· Hands-on opportunities to wear firefighting gear and participate in a fire attack team exercise
Legislative Day continues to be an important opportunity for building relationships, showcasing the value of firefighter training, and promoting the needs of the Texas fire service.
Looking Ahead: TEEX Municipal School
We are excited to once again participate in TEEX Municipal School. TEEX continues to provide unparalleled training opportunities and serves as a gathering place for firefighters from throughout Texas.
If you are attending Municipal School, please stop by the SFFMA booth at REED Arena to visit with our staff, learn about membership benefits, and browse available educational resources and publications. We look forward to seeing familiar faces and welcoming new members to the SFFMA family.
Strategic Planning for the Future
As we continue moving forward, SFFMA remains focused on strengthening our association and supporting the future of the Texas fire service. Throughout the coming year, we will continue engaging our members, committees, volunteers, and leadership in meaningful discussions about the opportunities and challenges facing our organization.
Our focus remains on ensuring that SFFMA continues to provide valuable member services, quality educational opportunities, strong partnerships, and effective advocacy for the fire service community.
A Commitment to Our Members
The strength of SFFMA has always been its membership. Whether through education, certification support, networking opportunities, legislative engagement, scholarships, or member services, our mission remains centered on serving firefighters and fire marshals across Texas.
Thank you for your continued trust, support, and dedication to SFFMA. Together, we will continue building a stronger association and a stronger fire service for future generations.
With Appreciation,
Cherry Kay Abel, Executive Director
